Notes: You can attend the Mysore self-practice in the mornings even if you’re not taking the full course!

 

I’ll be in Bristol in September for a two part Ashtanga Intensive designed for teachers and students who wish to deepen their existing Ashtanga practice. Each day will begin with a Mysore style self practice, then we will look at anatomy and adjustments, split over two parts, Primary up to Navasana, then Navasana and Introduction to the Second Series.

Course Topics

    •    In depth work on personal asana practice, practice of pranayama and chanting

    •    Bandhas and how to teach

    •    Ujjayi breath and how to teach

    •    Course structure and how to teach beginners

    •    Teaching led classes

    •    Adjustments of the key postures of full primary series and early part of second series

    •    Anatomy and physiology of different postures e.g. forward bends, twists, hip opening and back bends

    •    Energetics of the practice

    •    Avoiding and dealing with injuries

Alignment and Strength in Leigh-on-Sea

Ashtanga Yoga: Alignment & Strength Workshop in Leigh-on-Sea

I'm delighted to be returning to Shambhala Studios in Leigh-on-Sea for an afternoon workshop in June.

We'll begin the afternoon by going through some of the basics of alignment and building strength. After a quick break we'll take what we've learnt from the first section of the workshop and apply it to a led primary class.

I taught a similar intensive in 2015 and am delighted to be back in Bristol to do it all again in 2016! 

This course is suitable for teachers and students of Ashtanga Yoga seeking to deepen their understanding of the principles and practices of this system. The course provides you with an in depth knowledge of how to assist and adjust students through the practice, giving hands on experience in adjusting all the postures of the primary series. Through the course you will gain insight into the theoretical background of this method and how to work with your body through the sequence in a way appropriate for you. The course is open to serious students of Ashtanga Yoga, and teachers of other methods who are familiar with the primary series and want to be more confident in adjusting students.

Yoga Adjustment Workshops in London

Every year I teach a number of Yoga Adjustment Workshops in London. These are experiential workshops looking at the anatomy, alignment and adjustments for yoga asana. They are open to everyone interested in examining the mechanics of practice as well as those training to teach and already teaching.

There are currently two dates scheduled for 2017.
